Happy International Women’s Day! Here Are 6 Ways to Celebrate!
It’s International Women’s Day, ladies! There are tons of events going on worldwide to commemorate the 100th anniversary of this global holiday and there is plenty you can do to celebrate.
1. Google <http://www.google.com/events/iwd2011/> and Women for Women International <http://www.womenforwomen.org/> are hosting a worldwide check-in event to celebrate International Women’s Day. People are invited to meet up—either in person or virtually—on bridges across the world to show their support:

2. Give a teenager or a young girl a compliment. Call up a young woman in your life and let her know you’re proud of her. Maybe your teenage cousin recently landed a part in her school play or your niece is starting to read chapter books. Let the young lady know how fantastic you think she is. Or if you spot a girl out and about today, compliment her on something fun like her quirky shoes or unique hairstyle.
3. Donate to your favorite charity. There are many, well-deserving charities that benefit women and young girls. Give what you can or sign up to be a volunteer with one of your favorite organizations.
4. Visit the official site of International Women’s Day <http://www.internationalwomensday.com/default.asp> to learn more about its history. You can also use the site to find IWD events <http://www.internationalwomensday.com/events.asp> in your area.

5. Say thanks to the special women in your life. Think of all the wonderful women—your mom, Grandmothers, aunts, teachers, sisters, cousins, mentors—who helped you grow into the person you are today. Reach out to a few of these ladies to say thanks for all they’ve helped you accomplish.
6. And speaking of your accomplishments, give yourself a pat on the back. Write up a list of five accomplishments you’re proud of and post it someplace you can look at all day. The top corner of my computer screen is rocking a bright orange Post-It featuring my greatest hits.
How will you celebrate International Women’s Day? Which of these five ideas is your favorite? Do you have any cool ideas to add?
